Tokyo’s hidden underground kissaten in Kichijoji that feels straight out of a Ghibli scene.
💡 Opened in 1979 by members of a puppet theatre troupe, this cave-like café has lived quietly beneath the street for decades. It originally served as a quiet working and resting space for troupe members between shows and rehearsals. Their classic curry rice set (¥2,000) is the cutest, simmered with more than 10 spices. Their coffee beans are French-roasted, aged for at least two years, and hand-dripped to order.
